Film, music and literature play such a huge role in my life and in my work as a playwright. Of all the bits of aesthetic detritus my brain has collected over the years, all the beautiful little moments, I think this moment from the seminal film, Friday the 13th Part Five: A New Beginning, has left the biggest impact.
Lord knows I've searched for that hot new wave track for the better part of my twenty-seven years. Incidentally, the role of Violet (our break dancer) was played by Tiffany Helms, who also appeared in two other important films; Reform School Girls and O.C. and Stiggs, respectively.
